ATF and FBI busted a Christian militia group

Eight members of the Hutaree militia, a Christian militia, were captured by weekend ATF and FBI raids in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, as was reported by the Associated Press. According to federal agents, the people being detained were planning to kill members of local law enforcement and then to later kill all the other officers attending their funerals. The weekend raids served as a form of preventative upkeep. Many other unaffiliated Christian militia groups such as the Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia will believe the Hutaree militia is “too extreme” or so says the AP.

What does the Hutaree Christian militia do?

The Hutaree militia Christian group purports on their website that their members “are prepared to defend all those who belong to Christ and conserve those who (don’t).” It is unknown as to whether the alleged action planned against law enforcement was in any way related to their preparation for the Second Coming, but the Christian militia group says they “will one day see (their) enemy and meet him on the battlefield if so God wills it.” Use of payday cash advances for weapons for this battle would be discouraged, to say the least.

Conspiracy to attempted use of WMDs are charged

The two Ohio residents, six Michigan residents, and one Indiana resident could be charged with “seditious conspiracy, attempted use of weapons of mass destruction (an Improvised Explosive Device, or IED), teaching the use of explosive materials, and possessing a firearm during a crime of violence,” as stated by the AP. The Department of Justice Press Release and indictment are in the public records now.

Neighbors had no idea, thought they were “nice”

It might be more indicative of what Robert Frost meant when he wrote down “Good fences make good neighbors,” than it speaks for the character quality of the members of this Hutaree extreme militia group. As they see it, the Hutaree militia seems for making the extreme reading of the Bible a way of coping with the “New World Order,” speaking of lessons from literature.

So what have we learned? If we were to follow the word of literature, we could take Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” as serious and eat small children to deal with all the overpopulation. Swift intended it as a satire since it would be ridiculous. Maybe our modern society would be better off with “1984″ as a model. That might be the kind of totalitarian regime that the Hutaree militia and other Christian militia’s would prefer. And what if they chose not to lay down their arms after – would we have a Hutareetocracy? Would, before applying for no faxing payday loans, a rendition of “Onward Christian Soldiers” be required?
